Repeaters Bruce and Betsy and Elise

Bruce and Betsy Glassick can’t seem to get enough of the Bitter End. Their Najad 440 Elise is the second of two boats they’ve kept in yacht management at the Bitter End, the first being a Najad 404 called Loon’s Lace (which wintered at Bitter End last season). Elise, at four feet bigger, is a spacious “AC” version, meaning Aft Cockpit (versus center cockpit).
The Glassicks hail from Newport, Rhode Island. They have three daughters in their early 20s, and Bill still does some consulting in the energy trading world where he worked for 30 years and Betsy is a retired school teacher. They spend 2-3 months in the BVI and USVI, keeping their boat at Bitter End in the Yacht Management program.
Currently, Bruce is a part owner of Najad Varvet, the Swedish-based builder of the complete line of Najad Yachts, ranging from 33 to 57 feet. He is also part owner of Scandinavian Yachts, authorized agents in the US for Najad. Najad has built over 1800 yachts since 1971, and currently builds about 75 a year. Scandinavian Yachts also brokers Baltics, Swans, and other yachts of Scandinavian heritage.
Bruce and Betsy are looking forward to participating in the Bitter End based “Scandinavian Yachts Rendezvous,“ February 6 9. With the emphasis on fun in the sun, the owners and guests enjoy activities such as the seafood extravaganza, snorkeling, racing around The Dogs Islands, and visiting places such as Cooper Island and Anegada.
