20th Annual Pro Am Regatta
October 28 – November 4, 2006

Experience victory at Bitter End 20th Annual Pro Am Regatta

It is the only event of its kind in the world, where America’s Cup skippers, Olympic medalists, Around the World Race winners and world champions gather at Bitter End Yacht Club in the British Virgin Islands, to lead teams made up of resort guests in a week-long competition for the top Pro Am Regatta honors. This exhilarating event will allow amateurs to maximize their on-water experience with the pros as well as enjoy a lively social schedule with fellow sailors off the water.

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary, the Pro Am “Invitational,” as it was first called, is returning to the format used for the first five years: a uniquecombination of fleet racing and match racing. For 2006, all ten teams willtake part in an exciting fleet race series aboard IC-24s.

This year, IC 24s will be making their Pro Am debut as the fleet race boat. The four to five person IC 24 is a rapidly-growing class that has its rootssolidly planted in the Virgin Islands. Bitter End has two of the first ICs andthe Tortola-based builder/manager/charter outfit provide additional boats.

The week’s racing doesn’t stop there. In addition to the Musto ScuttlebuttSailing Championships and the Defiance Day Regatta, guests will witness theincomparable exhibition match race showdown between Russell Coutts andPaul Cayard. With matched Hobie Getaways and one lucky guest crew alongfor the ride, the race will raise money for the Hokin Scholarshipfund.

In addition to the racing, Bitter End guests can enjoy an array of non-sailingactivities that include lively cocktail parties, wine dinners, informationalseminars, snorkeling, an excursion to beautiful Anegada, scuba diving, windsurfing and beachcombing.

Read on to find out more about all that goes into making this an unforgettable experience!
