Mikhail Shamkin

Mikhail Shamkin is practically a local. He began his career in Antigua, West Indies as the manager of Hawksbill Beach Resort 30 years ago, and he has managed several resorts in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, Barbados, Antigua, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands. For a change of pace, Shamkin most recently spent time in Newport, Rhode Island, as Vanderbilt Hall’s General Manager.

Mikhail is glad to be back in the Caribbean. “Being here at Bitter End Yacht Club takes me back in time—having first sailed into North Sound from Antigua in 1976. My thought then was that this would be a wonderful place to live. Today, not only do I get to live here, I am participating in Caribbean history! Bitter End is on everyone’s itinerary when visiting by boat and it’s a dream destination for a vacation. It is my wish to continue to grow the legendary qualities of Bitter End and welcome new visitors to our corner of paradise. And if I can help create a few legends myself, well, I could live with that too.”
