Come Fish with Us
Poet Warrior at BEYC

It was fishing time again at the Quarterdeck Club and the catch was amazing. The 2nd Annual Bitter End Game fish Challenge Thanksgiving weekend, 2003, attracted fishing boats from the BVI and as far as our neighboring Island of Puerto Rico. The Bitter End Yacht Club was lucky enough to be sponsored by Paul Cartmill, who donated his 55ft Ocean Poet Warrior to act as fish control at this annual event. The Bitter End team can normally be found aboard Brent Hollink’s 30ft Chris Craft fishing the local waters, but it was a great experience to be able to fish on such a deluxe sports fishing vessel as Poet Warrior.

The second day of the event exhausted the Weigh-in Master, Andy Bradley (last year’s winner), with over fifty fish to be weighed in. Princess 1, skippered by Bozo Wheatley won the whole event with a total combined weight of 155 pounds.

Congratulations to all those that competed! Many thanks to our sponsors: Paul Cartmill, Samarkand Jewelers, Richardson’s Rigging, Island Marine Outfitters and the Willy T.

We would like to invite you all to the next great fishing event at The Bitter End Yacht Club, our 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Game Fish Challenge, November 26th – 27th, 2004. This event is open to sport fishermen and sport fishing boats of all sizes and makes, and will include the participation of Bitter End’s own fleet of Bradley 22s and Mako. Additional sport fishing vessels will be available for charter.

“Given the fertile fishing grounds not far from Bitter End, we expect to give out a lot of prizes,” judges Quarterdeck Manager Brent Hollink of the fishing prospects off Bitter End’s shores. There will be cash prizes for 1st – Best Overall Weight, and 2nd – Biggest Fish, as well as other overall and daily prizes for top female angler; youngest angler; biggest wahoo, dolphin, tuna, and kingfish.

In addition to great fishing, anglers and their families will enjoy great shore side evening entertainment, including a Pub Party complete with daily prizes on Friday night and a Final Awards Ceremony and Dinner at the Almond Walk on Saturday night.

While the anglers are afloat, there will be plenty to do ashore for the non-fisherfolk. Bitter End’s pool, beaches, and the fantastic watersports activities and excursions are all popular diversions. Join us for the entire week and make a vacation of it for the whole family.

The entry fee for this event is $75 per rod, with a minimum entry of $300 per boat. For more information, or to receive a preregistration packet, call our Brent Hollink at 1-284-494-2745 or e-mail him at quarterdeckclub@beyc.com.
