Sweet Beginnings
at the Bitter End

A marriage at Bitter End

Bitter End has hosted many weddings over the last quarter century. Big weddings, weddings just for the couple, weddings on the beach, on boats, at the Almond Walk, at the pool, at sunset, in the evening, simple weddings, elaborate weddings with all the trimmings... Bitter End has done them all. You can work with our resident events coordinator to create the island paradise wedding of your dreams; contact our Reservations office for more details at 800-872-2392, or visit the web site at www.beyc.com

The BVI Registrar’s Office requires three business days to process documents. To register and complete the three day residency requirement you will need to:

Go to Road Town on Tortola to purchase your Marriage Stamp from the Post Office on Main Street for $110. The Post Office opens at 8:30 am.

Next you will need to go to the Registrar’s Office, located at the roundabout, opposite Bobby’s Supermarket. There you will need to fill in your wedding application and pay the registration fee of $100.

Both the Post Office and the Registrar’s Office will only accept cash or travelers’ cheques. NO CREDIT CARDS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Once these two steps are completed you will need to go to the Attorney General’s office to apply for your marriage license. You will need two people to witness your wedding application. It is common to ask passersby to do this. If either of you have been divorced or widowed you will need your original documentation along with your passports. You also need to register the names of your witnesses who will be present at the wedding. If you have not selected witnesses, or it is a wedding for just the two of you, contact your Bitter End Wedding Coordinator for assistance (Mary Jo has been witnessing weddings for over 20 years, and she enjoys every one of them!).

The Registrar will bring your Wedding license to you on the day of your wedding. Both the Post Office and Registrar’s Office will accept cash & travelers’ cheques. The entire process takes about one hour, but please allow extra time.
