The Bitter End Watersports Line Up for the 20032004 Season
As we head into another season at Bitter End, many guests will ask who is still working at Watersports? The fact is, we will have a few new faces this year, mixed in with familiar characters guests have come to know and (hopefully) love.
Returning staff include Gordon Gord-O Overing, Eustace Joseph, Andrew Whittaker, Esther Recourt, Katie McGaulley, Captain Buck Harrigan, Captain Michael Wheatley, Captain Bernie Charles, First mates Eddy Pollock and Terry Marshal, Ponce Captain Kinto Sprauve, Javon Stevens and Dexter Harley, son of the legendary Captain Poncho.
The new staff members come from a variety of backgrounds and will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Bitter End Team. They are:
Mark ORiordan. Dublin, Ireland; Mark brings a number of qualifications to Bitter End, including Irish Sailing Association Senior Instructor, Racing Instructor and Advanced Instructor. Mark has worked in Maui where he taught windsurfing, surfing, ocean kayaking, snorkeling and boogie boarding. With a degree in Master of Laws from the University College Dublin, Mark will be a tough race director for our Sunday regatta. (You best leave your protests on the water!)
Karen McClellan. Norwalk, CT; Karen is a US Sailing Level 1 certified instructor who has worked at both Indian Harbor Yacht Club as well as Noroton Yacht Club where she was Co Head Instructor this past season. Karen is a junior program specialist, with experience on Optis, 420s, Lasers, and Blue Jays. She has also spent time sailing a Tartan Ten, Santana 20 and the Ideal 18. Karen cruised the BVI this past winter and clinched the job during her interview at Bitter End.
Adrian Bush. Cape Town, South Africa; Adrian comes a long way to join the Bitter End team. With a background in windsurfing, kayaking, surfing, scuba diving and sailing, Adrian will certainly fit right in to the Bitter End environment. Having just completed his RYA Yacht Master certification, Adrian looks forward to logging some extra sailing miles in the Caribbean. With a degree in Marketing from the University of Cape Town, Adrian rounds out a very well qualified team of instructors.
It is going to be a fantastic year at Bitter End and we are all looking forward to welcoming you back. We have plenty of new toys to play with and great weather as well, but the thing that makes Bitter End unique is of course, the staff. See you soon!
