In the summer of 1981, we had our first Quarterdeck Member, Niel Weiss from the vessel Bacchus of St. Thomas, USVI, join. Since then, our membership list has grown to over an amazing 350 current members. Our members sail or power in from as far as Europe, North America, and all the surrounding Caribbean Islands. The vessels range from a 28 footer to an amazing 200 feet. This year, for the first time ever, we asked the members of the Quarterdeck Club to vote online or here onsite between the dates of July 19th and 25th 2003, for this years flag officers. After a lot of joking around (and I believe some bribery), we are proud to announce this new team of Flag Officers for the Quarterdeck Club. Our Commodore for 2003 is Alex Cabanillas from the vessel Costa Norte, Vice Commodore is Rene De La Cruz from the vessel Demencia, Rear Commodore is Papo Gonzalez from the vessel Maritere, and our Fleet Captain is Carli Rodriguez from the vessel Onix.
Quarterdeck News
It was time for Christmas again on July 25th. Most of our members and guests dont think of July as the time for Christmas, but here at The Quarterdeck Club, we have so much fun in December that July sounds like a great time to do it all over again. The difference between the two events is the decorations. Christmas in December, we dress up the Quarterdeck with all the trimmings and lights. But in July, we dress up our 20 slip marina and turn it into a 60 slip marina. We then have a cocktail party on the dock, and announce our new flag officers for the next season. If you like Christmas as much as we do here at the Quarterdeck, please come and visit us next July for some more great times on the docks.
