Andrew Whittaker

Andrew Whittaker

As the Chief Boatwright for the Bitter End, Andrew is responsible for keeping our entire fleet of over 100 boats floating and in good repair. As you can imagine, this is no small task and Andrew not only does it with talent and efficiency but also with a great sense of humour. Originally from Norwich in England, Andrew came to the Bitter End five years ago and has been keeping us afloat ever since.

In addition to his professional boat-working skills, Andrew is an accomplished sailor and an avid fisherman. As a result, in any given week Andrew may not only find himself fixing and maintaining our busy fleet, he might end up taking our guests out on a fishing charter, doing a daysail as the captain of Cosmic Warlord, or being on the helm of a Freedom 30 through a set of races.

Andrew can often be found near the Marina building, fixing our most recent breakdown and listening to Otis Redding, Taj Mahal or Jerry Jeff Walker. His infectious laugh and positive attitude make him popular amongst his fellow staff and guests alike. In speaking of Andrew, Gord-O says, “I don’t know what we’d do without him. He keeps it all going and whenever I need someone to fill in, Andrew’s the man. We’re lucky to have him.”
