J-24s Reborn as IC-24s
Catherine Murray and Gary Warner

Weve often described the Bitter End as a candy store for sailors: choose one, enjoy it and come back for another boat, that is.
Now there is a new taste at BEYC and, as the first guests to sample it, we have a singular opinion. Sweet!
The J-24s have undergone a transformation and are now Interclub 24s. Gone is the cramped cockpit and knee-busting, main-sheet traveler. Removing the old cockpit made way for dropping in a Melges 24-style cockpit which is enormous plenty of room for six (or more!).
With the main-sheet block floor mounted, molded foot grips, comfortable new seating, and plenty of room to maneuver, the 24s are all set for a casual day sail or serious racing.
Our maiden voyage had the rub rail in the water as we blew across North Sound. We rate the new cockpit as a real winner
its like sailing an entirely new 24.
In a word: sweet!
