Mike and Bernice Go for a Visit…

Another sunshine-filled day dawns at Bitter End. And, it is a Tuesday! Last week, Mike and Bernice received and invitation from their friends on Anegada to come for tea, and today is the day!

Mike and Bernice put together a picnic basket, tie on their safety vests and take off aboard the Paranda, Bitter End’s racing catamaran that sails to Anegada every Tuesday.

Before meeting up with their tall pink friends for tea, Mike and Bernice decide to do a little snorkeling. The water is so calm, Mike just walks right in!

Anegada’s coral reef, called Horseshoe Reef, is 18 miles long (one of the world’s largest!) and that creates a safe haven for lots of sea creatures to live.

Soon it is time for Mike and Bernice to go to tea. They take along their picnic basket and head off for the salt ponds where the flamingos live. They have set up a feast and everybody digs in. It is a good thing Mike and Bernice brought the basket with hibiscus leaves and flowers. The flamingos make their briny stew which is a little too salty for Mike and Bernice!

After a nice visit, the flamingos take Mike and Bernice back to the boat. Along the way, they visit the salt ponds and the soon-to-be mothers keeping their eggs warm atop nests make of coral mud. That means more friends for Mike and Bernice very soon!
