Pro Am Flash!
Paul Cayard Joins Pro Am Line-Up, November 29 2002
Two time Pro Am winner and Americas Cup finals veteran, Paul Cayard, will be on hand for this years 16th Annual Dry Creek Vineyard Pro Am Regatta. He will join junior skippers Dawn Riley, Mark Reynolds, Betsey Alison and Andy Burdick. Two years ago, Cayard tied for first in the juniors division and paired with Lowell North to take second overall. He last won in 1998, when he had a little help from a super model, Heidi Klum, on-site for a Sports Illustrated photo shoot. In addition to the juniors, youre invited to crew for masters Butch Ulmer, Keith Musto, Lowell North, Tom Leweck, and Rod Johnstone.
Last years defending champion in the junior division, Ed Baird, will not be able to join us this year, as he is in New Zealand doing Americas Cup on-air commentary for TV New Zealand and Outdoor Life Network. Tom Leweck will be paired with another junior in an attempt to defend his crown.
During the Fall Sailing Festival Season and deep into the winter, Bitter End will be showing Louis Vuitton Cup and Americas Cup coverage via satellite, almost daily at the Pub. Check out the following list of past Pro Am winners. Note how many are currently steering boats in current Cup races, or are involved in the event!
