Welcome to North Soundings for Kids!

Mike has just received a note from his good friend and resident expert on Kids Activities at Bitter End, Ali Overing, age 10. Last night they had been talking about a favorite topic of Bitter End staff and guests alike: what would the perfect day at Bitter End be? mike, as we all know, likes to spend LOTS of time lounging in the sun and eating hibiscus. Ali prefers a bit more activity. “The only time she appears to be still is when she is sleeping or when she takes a little afternoon break to read in a hammock,” Mike commented.

Here is what Ali wrote; My favorite day at Bitter End is a day when I wake up and have a beautiful breakfast with my parents, including bacon and eggs. Then I would go to the Junior Watersports camp. We do stuff like Hobie sailing and scavenger hunts, and play with things like the Banana Boat, Tubes, Dominoes and beach balls.

After a great morining on the water, I like to have a tasty lunch with my friend from Boston. After lunchy, I would join the Sail Caribbean camp and play with the water toys (banana boat, tubes, etc.), and maybe go on a sailing excursion or kayaking with the great staff and fellow kids (just like I did with the Bitter End staff). The Sail Caribbean people are only here for certain weeks of the yea (during school vacations!) and it’s fun to see then! Since I live here all year round, we really play a lot when they are here. Then I would go and read in the hammock for a little while before dinner.

For dinner, I love Italian night and Monday night best because on Monday there are potatoes and baked Spinach souffle (Mmmmm!!!) and Paulus’ award winning beef. On Italian night I eat noodles with everything but mushrooms and onions.

After dinner, I love to go to the Sand Palace to watch the kids movies, like Shrek, Princess Diaries or Toy Story 2. When it is time for bed, I love to lie down with my parents for a short story before I go to sleep. Bitter End is the best!

Write to Mike and tell him what your favorite day at Bitter End would be. If we publish your letter, we will send you a special prize! Snail Mail: 875 N. Michigan Ave, Suite 3707, Chicago, IL 60611 (this address provides direct delivery service via special carrier bird to Mike and Bernice on North Sound, Virgin Gorda) E-Mail: kidsclub@beyc.com. Make sure you have Mom or Dad help you!

Check out Mike and his good friend Bernice the Bananaquit on one of their many adventures together, Mike and Bernice’s Bitter end Excursion.
