2000 SailNet.com ProAm Winners!

The 2000 SailNet.com Pro Am Regatta has just concluded, and the race for the top prize was hot and exciting: four teams (Russell Coutts, Paul Cayard, J.J. Isler, and Peter Holmberg) tied for first in the “Junior” division, and Rod Johnstone won the Masters (over Lowell North, Keith Musto, and Tom Leweck). However, the real winners are the resort guests who get to sail with and schmooz with the luminaries.

Heading the list this year are Linda Coleman & Mark Fineberg. Mark & Linda have been coming for the Pro Am for 8 years, and this year they took home perhaps the most coveted prize: The Griff Gielow Spirit & Enthusiasm Award. Linda has been a good luck charm for winning teams the last few years, and Mark has a smile on his face, win, lose, or draw.

J.J. & Peter Isler took home the Sportsmanship Award (and with it an automatic bid back for next year). While a large number of people, including the pros and their trimmers, participated “occasionally” in the Pro Am, the following list represents in no particular order the die hard, full program participants.

These are the true winners!

Linus Portman, Dave Silberman, Nick Maxwell, Chris Justi, Cherry Justi, Bud Price, John Gardner, Bruce Goldberg, Carl Mason, Kim Sedgwick, Bill Gundy, Chris Perry, Lisa Perry, Dave Cooper, Kai Cooper, The Huttleston Gang, The Conforti Gang, Bea North, Michelle Zinn, Lucia Johnstone, Denise Balzak, Don Zinn, Barb Leweck, Icka Cayard, Ben Ainsley (did we mention that this accidental BEYC guest had just won a Gold Medal in the Laser Class at the Olympics)
