A Place to Have a Family Affair

Last summer, the Bitter End saw a number of multigenerational family outings. In June alone three different family groups, with over 15 members per came to visit. While most families come in much smaller doses, the following is a series of excerpts from a letter we received from Howard “Bo” Callaway recounting his family visit on the occasion of his 50th wedding anniversary.

    Dear Ms. Hokin,

My family, which consists of 16 grandchildren, five children, five spouses, my wife and I has just completed a sailing vacation at the Bitter End Yacht Club. Everyone in the family said that it was the best family vacation we have ever had, and I want to commend you for a truly exceptional facility and organization…

My wife and I arrived a day early to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary… It was truly an ideal setting for an occasion that we will never forget.

The [family] check-in was courteous, quick, and efficient. During our brief moment at the counter, Jake from the sailing school came by to welcome us and check on our needs. A moment later, Sarah Watts (food & beverage) came by to [discuss] any special requests that we had. They arranged for soy milk for two grandchildren with milk allergies, special care for a son who has shellfish allergies, and special dining arrangements for the group each night… Nothing that we asked was too much!

I guess we did about everything that can be done on the water. Four of my children took the cruising course [sailing school] and became qualified, in my opinion, to bare boat charter… Everyone in the watersports area was friendly and helpful, and they did so voluntarily, going beyond what I asked on many occasions…

The ocean [Beachfront] villas are absolutely magnificent… with breathtaking views and cross ventilation… my family told me how glad they were that I had done that [selected Beachfronts].

I just wanted to write this letter to let you know what a wonderful week you have given to our family and encourage you to continue to operate Bitter End as you now are. Thanks again.

    Sincerely,

    Bo Callaway
